A Healthier Take on Warm, Apple Crisp


Ingredients

  • 4 cups apples peeled + sliced in 1/4 inch thick pieces - about 1 lb (my favorite is honeycrisp, perfect taste and texture for a flavorful apple crisp!

  • 1 tbsp coconut oil or butter, melted

  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon

  • 1/4 tsp ground ginger

Crisp Topping

  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon

  • 1/4 tsp nutmeg

  • 1/4 tsp ground ginger

  • 1/3 cup pecans chopped

  • 1 cup old fashioned oats

  • 2 tbsp coconut oil or butter

  • 1 tsp maple syrup


Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees

  • Prepare a greased 8 x 8 baking dish

  • Peel and cut apple slices into ¼ inch thick slices

  • Melt coconut oil/butter. Toss apples with coconut oil/butter, cinnamon + ginger. Set aside.

  • Mix together crisp topping.

  • Pour apples into bottom of the baking dish.

  • Layer crisp topping evenly on top of the apples.

  • Cover apple crisp with aluminum foil and bake at 350 dgrees for 20 mins.

  • After 20 minutes, remove cover and bake for an additional 10-20 minutes until apples are fork tender and the crisp topping is golden brown.

  • Let cool slightly, serve, enjoy!
